Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the park/neutral position switch assembly to the automatic transaxle.

  3. Hand tighten the 2 bolts (1, 2).

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  5. Replace the lock plate with a new one and tighten the manual valve shaft nut (1) to 6.9 N.m (61 lb in).
  6. Install the control shaft lever.

  8. Turn the lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches.
  9. Remove the control shaft lever.

  11. Align the groove with the neutral base line (1).
  12. Hold the switch in this position and tighten the 2 bolts to 5.4 N.m (48 lb ft).

  14. Using a screwdriver, stake the nut with the lock plate.

  16. Install the control shaft lever with the nut (1) and washer. Tighten the nut to 13 N.m (10 lb ft).
  17. Connect the connector to the park/neutral position switch assembly.

  19. Install the transmission control cable assembly to the control shaft lever with the nut (1). Tighten the nut to 12 N.m (9 lb ft).
  20. Install the transmission control cable assembly to the bracket with a new clip.
  21. Install the battery tray.
  22. Install the battery.
  23. Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal.
  24. Inspect the shift lever position.
  25. Adjust the shift lever position.
  26. Inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly.
