Installation Procedure

  1. Install the shift solenoid valve SLT to the valve body.
  2. Install the No. 1 solenoid lock plate to the shift solenoid valve SLT.
  3. Install the shift solenoid valve ST to the valve body.
  4. Install the No. 3 solenoid lock plate to the valve body with the 2 bolts (4, 6) and tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).

  6. Install the shift solenoid valve SLU onto the valve body.
  7. Install the solenoid lock plate with the bolt (1) and tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).

  9. Install the shift solenoid valve S2 to the valve body with the bolt (1) and tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).

  11. Install the shift solenoid valve S1 to the valve body with the bolt (1) and tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).

  13. Coat the manual valve with ATF WS, and install it to the valve body.

  15. Coat 2 new transaxle case 2nd brake gaskets (1, 2) with ATF WS, and install them to the transaxle case.

  17. Install the check ball body spring (1) and check ball body (2).

  19. Align the groove of the manual valve with the pin of the manual valve lever.
  20. Install the valve body with the 13 bolts (1). Refer to Transmission General Specifications  for Bolt Length - 1.

  22. Install the manual detent spring (4) and manual detent spring cover with the 2 bolts. Refer to Transmission General Specifications  for Bolt Length - 2.
  23. Check that the manual valve lever comes in contact with the center of the roller at the tip of the manual detent spring.
  24. Install the 15 bolts and tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).

  26. Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and bolt (3). Tighten the bolt to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).
  27. Connect the 5 shift solenoid valve connectors.

  29. Coat a new oil strainer gasket (1) with ATF WS and install it to the oil strainer.

  31. Install the oil strainer with the 3 bolts (1) and tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).

  33. Install the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
  34. Install the 2 magnets (1) to the oil pan.

  36. Install the oil pan and a new gasket with the 19 bolts and tighten to 7.8 N.m (69 lb in).
  37. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
  38. Add the automatic transaxle fluid.
  39. Inspect for an automatic transaxle fluid leak.
  40. Install the left hand side engine under cover.
