Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the rear window sunshade control module.
  2. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 4 and B+.
  5. Command the rear window sunshade motor to EXTEND and RETRACT by pressing the sunshade switch, the test lamp should turn ON each time the sunshade switch is pressed.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to B+ or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the rear window sunshade switch.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the rear window sunshade switch.
  6. Ignition OFF, connect the X1 harness connector and disconnect the X2 harness connector at the rear window sunshade control module.
  7. Test for less than 5 Ω between the control terminal at the rear window sunshade control module listed below and ground.
    • Control terminal 1
    • Control terminal 2
    • If greater than the specified range, replace the rear window sunshade control module.
  8. Connect a test lamp between the control terminal 1 and the control terminal 2.
  9. Ignition ON, command the rear window sunshade motor to EXTEND and RETRACT by pressing the sunshade switch. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the EXTEND and RETRACT states.
    • If the test lamp is OFF during either command, replace the rear window sunshade control module.
  10. If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the rear window sunshade motor.
