Installation Procedure

Install the outer tie rod (3) to the inner tie rod (1).
Do not tighten the jam nut (2).

Install the outer tie rod (2) to the steering knuckle (1).

CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the outer tie rod retaining nut (2).
Tighten: Tighten the nut to 30 N.m plus 180 degrees (22 lb ft plus 180 degrees).
Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
Lower the vehicle.

NOTE: Ensure that the rack and pinion boot is not twisted or puckered during toe adjustment.

Adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
