Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (J55)

WARNING: Refer to Brake Dust Warning . NOTE: The brake rotor is coated with a corrosion inhibitor and must not be refinished. Preliminary Procedures Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation . Without disconnecting the brake hose fitting, remove the brake caliper and brake caliper bracket as an assembly and support with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JL9) or Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (J55) .
1	Brake Rotor Procedure Mark the relationship of the rotor to the wheel hub. Inspect the surface of the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection (JL9) or Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection (J55) . Replace the brake rotor if refinishing is indicated. Using the J-42450-A: Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit, remove any corrosion on rotor mating surface of the wheel hub. Using the J-41013: Rotor Resurfacing Kit, remove any corrosion from the mating surface of the rotor to the wheel hub. Do not remove the corrosion inhibiting coating on the friction surface of the brake rotor. After the installation is complete, burnish the brake pads and rotors. Brake Rotor

Procedure

Mark the relationship of the rotor to the wheel hub.
Inspect the surface of the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection (JL9) or Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection (J55) .
Replace the brake rotor if refinishing is indicated.
Using the J-42450-A: Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit, remove any corrosion on rotor mating surface of the wheel hub.
Using the J-41013: Rotor Resurfacing Kit, remove any corrosion from the mating surface of the rotor to the wheel hub.
