Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (JL9)

Preliminary Procedures Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation . Remove the brake hose from the caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Hose Replacement . Disconnect the park brake cable from the caliper. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side (J55) or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side (JL9) or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side (J55) or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side (JL9) .
1	Guide Pin Bolt (Qty: 2) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten: 34 N.m (25 lb ft) IMPORTANT: Install a open end wrench to hold the caliper guide pin in line with the brake caliper while removing or installing the caliper guide pin bolt. DO NOT allow the open end wrench to come in contact with the brake caliper. Tip: Hold the brake caliper guide pin stationary when removing or installing the guide pin bolt.
2	Brake Caliper Tip: Remove the caliper bolt and gaskets. DO NOT reuse the gaskets, replace with NEW. Cap or plug the brake hose to prevent the brake system from becoming contaminated and fluid leakage. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) . With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance. Slowly release the brake pedal. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 4-5 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads. Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling . Burnish the pads and rotors. Refer to Brake Pad and Rotor Burnishing .

Preliminary Procedures

Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
Remove the brake hose from the caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Hose Replacement .
Disconnect the park brake cable from the caliper. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side (J55) or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side (JL9) or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side (J55) or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side (JL9) .

Guide Pin Bolt (Qty: 2)

CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten: 34 N.m (25 lb ft)
