Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Engine running, accessories OFF, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals.
- The voltage should be between 12.6 and 15.5 volts.
- If the battery voltage is not within the specified range, refer to Charging System Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors of the appropriate control module.
- Ignition OFF and scan tool disconnected, open and close the driver door, and wait 1 minute.
- Test for less than 5.0 ohms between the ground circuit and ground.
- Terminal 2 (AMP) (UQ3)
- Terminal 8 AMP) (UQ4)
- Terminal 8 (AUX HVAC) (CJ4)
- Terminal 9 (DDR)
- Terminal 11 X1 (HVAC)
- Terminal 5 (IPC)
- Terminal 5 (NAV)
- Terminal 7 X1 (RPA)
- Terminal 5 (PPS)
- Terminal 8 X1 Radio
- Terminal 4 (RCDLR)
- Terminal 19 (TVM)
- Terminal 4 (VDAAW)
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit and ground.
- Terminal 1 (AMP) (UQ3)
- Terminal 4 (AMP) (UQ4)
- Terminal 1 (AUX HVAC) (CJ4)
- Terminal 16 (DDR)
- Terminals 9-18 X1 (HVAC)
- Terminals 1-2 (IPC)
- Terminal 4 (NAV)
- Terminal 1 X1 (RPA)
- Terminal 1 (PPS)
- Terminal 1 X1 Radio
- Terminal 1 (RCDLR)
- Terminal 20 (TVM)
- Terminal 2 (VDAAW)
- If the test lamp did not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- If the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate control module.
