Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Driver Door Ajar Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door latch.
- Test for less than 50 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter and is Inactive.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground, verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter is Active.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door latch.
Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door latch.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Passenger Door Ajar Sw parameter and is Inactive.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground, verify the scan tool Passenger Door Ajar Sw parameter is Active.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger door latch.
Rear Door Ajar Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the appropriate rear door latch.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal listed below and ground:
- Left rear door latch ground circuit terminal 4
- Right rear door latch ground circuit terminal 1
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Rear Door Ajar Sw parameter is Door Closed.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM;
- Left rear door latch signal circuit terminal 2
- Right rear door latch signal circuit terminal 3
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal and the ground circuit terminal listed below, verify the scan tool Rear Door Ajar Sw parameter is Door Ajar;
- LR door latch signal circuit terminal 2 and ground circuit terminal 4
- RR door latch signal circuit terminal 3 and ground circuit terminal 1
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the door latch.
