Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (With VB6)

Preliminary Procedure Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging . Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement . Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Remove the right front tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation . Disconnect the electrical connector from the fan motor. Remove the washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement . Remove the brake line retaining clips from the engine frame in order to allow the brake lines to move during removal of the A/C compressor. NOTE: Seal the compressor suction and discharge ports after the hoses are removed in order to keep contaminants from entering the compressor and oil from draining out of the compressor during removal. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
1	Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Retaining Bolt CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten 16 N.m (12 lb ft)
2	Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Procedure Remove and discard the sealing washer. Refer to Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement
3	Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Retaining Bolt Tighten 16 N.m (12 lb ft)
4	Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Procedure Remove and discard the sealing washer. Refer to Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement
5	A/C Compressor Passenger Side Lower Retaining Nut Tighten 56 N.m (41 lb ft)
6	Washer
7	A/C Compressor Driver Side Lower Retaining Nut Tighten 121 N.m (89 lb ft)
8	Washer
9	A/C Compressor Passenger Side Upper Retaining Nut Tighten 48 N.m (35 lb ft)
10	A/C Compressor Driver Side Upper Retaining Nut Tighten 48 N.m (35 lb ft)
