Speed Advisory

The Speed Advisory feature is similar to Speed Alert but only notifies the driver of what the 'advised' speed is. This would apply to roads such as highway exit ramps where there are recommended speed for the ramp. Scroll through the DIC vehicle information menu to display 'Advisory: XXX MPH (Km/h). The notification to the driver is based on the offset for the Speed Alert listed above. Speed Advisory messages have a higher priority than Speed Alert messages. Speed Advisory notification can be turned off through the DIC.

The IPC receives Speed Advisory information as serial data messages from the radio/navigation system and does not have any control over the data being displayed. If the radio/navigation system does not send the Speed Advisory message, the IPC displays "-" "-" (dashes). This could be because there are no speed data for the road the vehicle is travelling on, a malfunction in the radio/navigation system or a GPS malfunction.
