Removal Procedure

  1. Open and support the liftgate.
  2. Remove the left, right, and center garnish moldings. Refer to Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Center) or Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Right) or Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Left) .
  3. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .

  4. Disengage the four clips and remove the liftgate pull handle.
  5. Remove the liftgate latch. Refer to Liftgate Latch Replacement .
  6. Remove the liftgate lock actuator. Refer to Liftgate Lock Actuator Replacement .
  7. Remove the liftgate outside handle. Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement .
  8. Remove the liftgate lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  9. Remove wiper motor assembly. Refer to Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement .
  10. Remove the spoiler. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement .
  11. Remove the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement .
  12. Remove the license lamps. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement .
  13. Remove the liftgate window latch. Refer to Liftgate Latch Replacement .
  14. Remove the high mount stop lamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement .
  15. Remove the liftgate harness.
  16. Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .
  17. Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.

  18. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges to the liftgate with a grease pencil.
  19. Remove the bolts (1) from the liftgate hinges (2), with an assistant.
  20. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle, with an assistant and place outside face down on a clean padded surface.
