Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the air bag system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Lower the door opening frame weather strips (1, 2) on the front and rear door pinch weld flanges.
  4. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  5. Remove the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Without Roof Side Rail Restraint) or Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (With Roof Side Rail Restraint) .
  6. Remove the sunshades and retainers. Refer to Sunshade Replacement and Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  7. Remove the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement (Map Lamp With Sunroof) or Dome Lamp Replacement (Map Lamp Without Sunroof) or Dome Lamp Replacement (Center and Rear) .
  8. Remove the quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .

  10. Disconnect the rear view mirror connector (9), if equipped.
  11. Disengage the retainers (7) from the left windshield pillar
  12. Disconnect the roof wire electrical connectors (8) from the instrument panel junction block.
  13. Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) from the antenna cord sub assembly and remove the bolt (5) from the right rear pillar.
  14. Remove the sunroof glass weather-strip. Refer to Sunroof Glass Panel Weatherstrip Replacement .
  15. Disconnect the sunroof gear drive electrical connector (3), if equipped.
  16. Remove the two retainers (6) which secure the rear of the headlining trim finish panel.

  18. Lower the front seat back cushions in order to gain clearance to remove the headlining trim finish panel.
  19. Lower the headlining trim finish panel (1). Remove the headlining through a rear door.

  21. Remove the roof silencer pads (1), if equipped without sunroof.

  23. Remove the roof silencer pads (1), if equipped with sunroof.

  25. Remove the center roof silencer pads (1), if equipped without sunroof.
  26. Remove the radio antenna extension cable. Refer to Radio Antenna Cable Extension Cable Replacement .

  28. Remove the adhesive tape that secures the wire harness to the headliner, if equipped without sunroof.
  29. Remove the wire harness from the headliner.

  31. Remove the adhesive tape that secures the wire harness to the headliner, if equipped with sunroof.
  32. Disengage the three retainers (1) and remove the wire harness from the headliner.
