Removal Procedure

- Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
- Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
- Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (1.4L LDT/1.6L LXV) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (1.2L) .
- Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
- Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
- Remove the power steering pump and bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (1.4L LDT and 1.6L LXV Engines) .
- Remove the alternator. Refer to Generator Replacement (1.4L LDT, 1.6L LXV) .
- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .
- Remove the engine coolant pipe (1) bolts.
- Remove the engine coolant pipe (2) bracket bolt and then push the pipe into the oil cooler housing.
- Remove the crankshaft sprocket (2).
- Remove the engine front cover assembly (3) with the gasket.
