Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (1.4L LDT/1.6L LXV) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (1.2L) .
  4. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  5. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  6. Remove the power steering pump and bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (1.4L LDT and 1.6L LXV Engines) .
  7. Remove the alternator. Refer to Generator Replacement (1.4L LDT, 1.6L LXV) .
  8. Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .

  10. Remove the engine coolant pipe (1) bolts.
  11. Remove the engine coolant pipe (2) bracket bolt and then push the pipe into the oil cooler housing.

  13. Remove the crankshaft sprocket (2).
  14. Remove the engine front cover assembly (3) with the gasket.
