Camshaft Cleaning and Inspection

Measure the camshaft lift.
Replace the camshaft if the measured value is not as specified.
Specification: The specification is 46.3 mm (1.8228 in).

Measure the outer diameter of each journal (1) at the 4 different places.
Replace the camshaft if the measured value is not as specified.
Specification: The specification is 27.939-27.960 mm (1.1000-1.1008 in).

Measure the straightness of the camshaft using a dial gauge.
Replace the camshaft if the measured value is over the specified limit.
Specification: The specification limit is 0.04 mm (0.0016 in).

Measure the camshaft endplay using a dial gauge.
Replace the camshaft if the measured value is over the specified limit.
Specification: The specification limit is 0.130-.215 mm (0.0051-.0085 in).

Measure the inner diameter of the cylinder head journal at the 2 places.
Specification: The specification limit is 28.000-28.021 mm (1.1024-1.1032 in).
If necessary, replace cylinder head.
