Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the driver knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  2. Remove the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement .
1 Accelerator Pedal Assembly Nut (Qty: 2)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  10 N.m (89 lb in)

2 Accelerator Pedal
Tip:  Position the accelerator pedal aside.
3 Brake Pedal Pushrod Retainer Clip

Procedure

  1. Remove the brake pedal pushrod retainer clip bolt, if equipped.
  2. After the installation is complete, rotate the brake pedal pushrod retainer clip to ensure the clip is fully engaged in the brake pedal clevis pin groove.

Tighten:  7 N.m (62 lb in)

4 Spacer
5 Brake Pedal Assembly Nut (Qty: 4)
Procedure: 
Without disconnecting the intermediate shaft, lower the steering column to gain access to the nuts for the brake pedal mounting bracket. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .

Tighten: 

  • Vacuum Brake Booster: 30 N.m (22 lb ft)
  • Hydraulic Brake Booster 36 N.m (27 lb ft)

6 Brake Pedal
Procedure: 
After the installation is complete, calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .
