Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement

Fastener Tightening Specifications:  Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the front seats. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Replacement .
1 Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel
Tip:  Use a J 38778  Door Trim Pad Clip Remover to aid in the removal of the 2 lower seat back retainers.
2 Front Seat Head Restraint
Tip: 
  1. Push in on the button of the inboard head restraint guide to move the head restraint up.
  2. Use a small round tool or equivalent to push into the hole on the inside of the outboard head restraint guide to release, then pull up to remove.
3 Front Seat Head Restraint Guides
Tip:  Squeeze the bottom of the head restraint guides together and push upward to remove.
4 Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Module Assembly
Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement .
5 Seat Back Cushion Cover
Tip:  Disconnect the electrical harness and j-channel from the seat back frame and remove the cover from the seat cushion pad.
6 Seat Back Cushion Pad
Tip:  The pad is secured to the cover with hook and loop fasteners.
