Park Brake Cable Equalizer Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement (Service and Repair).
Parking Brake:
2. Loosen the upper park brake cable nut (2).
3. Loosen the lower park brake cable nut (3).
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service Intervals).
5. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LV6 Engine) (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the 3 nuts and the front floor forward heat shield.
7. Remove the 2 nuts and the front floor center heat shield.
8. Remove the 3 park brake cables (6,7,9) from the equalizer (8).
Installation Procedure
Parking Brake:
1. Install the 3 park brake cables (6,7,9) to the equalizer (8).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).
2. Install the front floor center heat shield and the 2 nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 5.5 N.m (48.68 lb in).
3. Install the front floor forward heat shield and the 3 nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 5.5 N.m (48.68 lb in).
4. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LV6 Engine) (Service and Repair).
5. Inspect the park brake lever travel. Adjust as necessary. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (Adjustments).
6. Install the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement (Service and Repair).
