Front Brake Hose Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service Intervals).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Clean the brake hose and the fittings.
4. Loosen the brake hose to brake pipe fitting.
5. Remove the brake hose retainer.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution (Brake Fluid Irritant Caution).
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice (Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice).
6. Remove the brake hose from the brake pipe.
7. Install a cap or a plug to the brake pipe fitting in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
8. Remove the bolt (1) from the bracket.
9. Remove the brake hose from the bracket.
10. Remove the fitting (2) from the caliper.
11. Remove the brake hose (1) from the caliper.
12. Remove and discard the brake hose gasket.
13. Install a cap or a plug to the caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure
1. Remove the cap or the plug from the caliper.
2. Install the following components to the caliper:
* A NEW brake hose gasket
* The fitting (2)
* The brake hose (1)
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).
3. Tighten the fitting.
Tighten the fitting to 29 N.m (21.4 lb ft).
4. Install the brake hose (4) to the bracket.
5. Install the bolt (1).
Tighten the bolt to 29 N.m (21.4 lb ft).
6. Remove the cap or the plug from the brake pipe.
7. Install the brake hose and the retainer to the brake pipe.
Tighten the fitting to 15.2 N.m (11.21 lb ft).
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Caution (Brake Fluid Caution).
Notice: Refer to Filling the Master Cylinder Notice (Filling the Master Cylinder Notice).
8. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
10. Lower the vehicle.
