Rear Brake Hose Replacement

WARNING: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
1 Brake Hose Fitting Bolt
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  52 N.m (38 lb ft)

2 Brake Hose Fitting Gasket (Qty: 2)
Procedure: 
DO NOT reuse the brake hose fitting gaskets. Install NEW gaskets.
3 Brake Hose Bolt

Tighten:  12 N.m (106 lb in)

4 Brake Hose Bracket Bolt

Tighten:  12 N.m (106 lb in)

5 Brake Pipe Fitting
Tip: 
  • Use a backup wrench when removing or installing brake pipe fittings.
  • Cap or plug the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid leaks and contamination.

    Tighten:  18 N.m (13 lb ft)

6 Brake Hose
Tip:  Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure)  or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) .
