Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent and 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the BCM.
  2. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the B+ circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If not the specified value, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, connect the X4 harness connector at the BCM.
  4. Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the BCM.
  5. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the B+ circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If not the specified value, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  6. Ignition OFF, connect the X2 harness connector at the BCM.
  7. With a scan tool clear the DTC.
  8. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the following components fed by the LED backlight dimming control circuit:
    • Driver information center (DIC) switch
    • HVAC control module
    • Rear window wiper/washer/fog lamp switch
    • Radio
    • Steering wheel control switch - left
    • Steering wheel control switch - right
    • Traction control switch (TCS)
    • Window Switch - driver
  9. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC and verify the DTC does not reset.
    • If the DTC resets, test the LED backlight dimming control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
  10. Reconnect each component one at a time and verify that the DTC does not reset as current.
    • If the DTC resets as current, test or replace the component responsible for setting the DTC.
