Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (with EPS) or Steering Column Replacement (with HPS) .
  2. Remove the brake pedal assembly. Refer to Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the instrument panel retainer. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement .
1 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Nut (Qty: 3)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  4 N.m (36 lb in)

2 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  4 N.m (36 lb in)

3 Brake Pedal Bracket to Steering Column Bracket Bolt (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  25 N.m (18 lb ft)

4 Brake Pedal Bracket to Mod Plate Nut (Qty: 6)

Tighten:  25 N.m (18 lb ft)

5 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to Body Bolt (Qty: 6)

Tighten:  25 N.m (18 lb ft)

6 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly

Procedure

  1. Note routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to aid in the reinstallation.
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness from the tie bar assembly.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, remove the tie bar assembly from the vehicle.
