Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent and 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ GE 47716 Fill) or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ Static Fill) .
  2. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
  3. Remove the heater inlet pipe. Refer to Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement (LNJ) .
  4. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the thermostat housing. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LNJ Chevrolet) or Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LNJ Pontiac) .
  5. Remove the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .

  7. Remove the lower intake manifold bolts.
  8. Remove the lower intake manifold from the engine.
  9. If replacing the lower intake manifold, remove the thermostat and housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LNJ) .
  10. Remove the rocker arms and push rods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .

  12. Remove the lower intake manifold gaskets.
