Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation - Left Side

  1. Install NEW valve rocker arm cover grommets and use NEW valve rocker arm cover bolts if they are serviced with the grommet.
  2. NOTE: All gasket-mating surfaces need to be free of oil and foreign material. Use P/N 12378392 or equivalent to clean surfaces.
    NOTE: Apply sealant GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent, at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint.
  3. Install a new gasket to the valve rocker arm cover. Ensure that the gasket is properly seated in the groove of the valve rocker arm cover.
  4. Apply sealer GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent to the joint surfaces (1) where the cylinder head and intake manifold meet.

  6. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
  7. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  8. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the PCV fresh air tube (533).
  11. Install the PCV fresh air tube clip (534) and bolt (535). Tighten the PCV fresh air tube bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
