Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent and 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 GE 47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ GE 47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ Static Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill) .
  3. Fig 1: View Of Thermal Bypass Hose & Clamp

  4. Release and slide the thermal bypass pipe hose clamp (2) away from the thermal bypass fitting.
  5. Remove the thermal bypass hose (1) from the thermal bypass fitting.

  7. Release and slide the heater outlet hose clamp (1) away from the thermal bypass fitting.
  8. Remove the heater outlet hose (2) from the thermal bypass fitting.

  10. Remove the thermal bypass fitting bolt (2).
  11. Remove the thermal bypass fitting (1).
  12. Remove the seal from the thermal bypass fitting.
