Removal Procedure

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
Remove the front tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

NOTE: Mark the location of the jam nut for installation.

Loosen the tie rod inner jam nut.

NOTE: Hold the ball stud to prevent turning during removal of the nut.

Remove the tie rod to knuckle nut. Discard the nut.

CAUTION: Do not free the ball stud by using a pickle fork or a wedge-type tool. Damage to the seal or bushing may result.

Use the J 24319-B to separate the tie rod from the steering knuckle.

Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.
