Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent and 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  3. Remove the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side .
  4. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement (LY7) .

  5. Install the EN 46106  through the starter mounting hole. See Special Tools .

  6. Using engine support fixture, lower engine approximately two inches.
  7. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.

  8. Install the J 38416-2  in the nose of the crankshaft. See Special Tools .
  9. Install the J 41816  in order to remove the crankshaft balancer. See Special Tools .
  10. Tighten the center bolt of the J 41816  in order to pull the crankshaft balancer off of the crankshaft. See Special Tools .
  11. Remove the J 41816  from the crankshaft balancer. See Special Tools .
