Circuit/System Testing

IMPORTANT: Before performing this diagnostics, make sure no indicators are illuminated after the IPC performs the displays test. If any indicators are illuminated after the bulb test, perform the indicator diagnostics before this diagnostic.

Chime Always On

  1. Ignition ON, headlamp switch OFF, verify the scan tool Headlamp Off Switch parameter is Active.
  2. Ignition ON, park lamp switch OFF, verify the scan tool Park Lamps Switch parameter is Off.
  3. Ignition ON, doors closed, verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Closed.
  4. Ignition OFF, key out of the ignition, verify the scan tool Key In Ignition parameter is Inactive.
    • If not Inactive, test the key in ignition switch signal circuit terminal D for a short to ground. If the circuits tests normal, test or replace the ignition switch.

Chime Inoperative

  1. Ignition ON, radio ON, adjust the radio balance and fade to the left front speaker.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that the scan tool Key In Ignition Status parameter is Key In.
    • If not Key In, test the signal circuit terminal D and the ground circuit terminal E for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition switch.
