Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Ensure both components are aligned correctly or serious engine damage will occur.
  1. Install the crankshaft balancer onto the crankshaft indexing keyway. Use care to properly align the keyway and the flats on the balancer with the oil pump drive.
  2. Install the crankshaft balancer using a universal balancer installer.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. IMPORTANT: Always install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt and washer.
  4. Install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt and washer. Prevent the crankshaft from rotating when tightening the bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 100 N.m (74 lb ft) plus an additional 125 degrees using the J 45059  .

  6. Remove the J 43653  (1) from the engine block. See Special Tools .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement .
  9. Install the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (With A/C)  or Drive Belt Replacement (Without A/C) .
