Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
IMPORTANT: Service the balance shaft as an assembly. DO NOT disassemble or assemble the balance shaft.

  1. Install the balance shaft bushing using the J 43650  .

  3. Seat the balance shaft busing into the bore using the J 43650  and a wrench.
  4. When the J 43650  is fully seated in the engine block, remove it with a wrench.

    IMPORTANT:
    • If the balance shafts are not properly timed to the engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.
    • Install the balance shaft to the engine using the following steps:
  6. Place the number one cylinder at top dead center (TDC).
  7. Lubricate the balance shaft lobes with engine oil.
  8. Install the right (intake) balance shaft.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  10. Install the right (intake) balance shaft bolt (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the timing chain, sprocket and tensioner. Refer to Timing Chain, Sprockets, and/or Tensioner Replacement .
