Adjustment Link Replacement

Adjustment Link Replacement

Callout Component Name
NOTE: The ball stud must not rotate during disassembly or reassembly. Hand tools must be used to keep the ball stud from rotating. If air tools are used and the stud is allowed to rotate, damage to the ball stud and/or stud mounting hole may occur.
Preliminary Procedure: Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
1 Adjustment Link Retaining Nut
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tip: 
  • If the adjustment link is being reused, DO NOT loosen the adjustment jamb nut.
  • Using the J-42188-B  Ball Joint Separator, separate the adjustment link ball stud from the knuckle.

Tighten:  30 N.m (22 lb ft) plus 150 degrees

2 Adjustment Link to Frame Nut

Tighten:  100 N.m (74 lb ft)

3 Adjustment Link
Tip:  If the adjustment link is being reused, but the adjustment jamb nut was disturbed, or if a new adjustment link is being installed, adjust the rear toe. Refer to Rear Toe Adjustment .
