Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    CAUTION: Hot engine coolant may cause severe burns. Although the cooling system has been drained, coolant still remains in the engine water jacket. This coolant will drain with the removal of the knock sensor.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Fig 1: Locating Knock Sensor Components

  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (L26, L32 GE 47716 Fill) or Draining and Filling Cooling System (L26, L32 Static Fill) or Draining and Filling Cooling System (LS4 GE 47716 Fill) or Draining and Filling Cooling System (LS4 Static Fill) in Engine Cooling.
  4. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector (2).
  5. Remove the knock sensor (1).
