Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the electronic compass module.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the compass module ground and ground.
    • If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates when connected between the electronic compass module ignition 1 voltage circuit and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition 1 voltage circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance in the compass clock signal circuit and the compass data signal circuit.
    • If greater than 1 ohm of resistance, test the compass clock signal circuit and the compass data signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit(s) test normal, replace the driver information center (DIC).
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the electronic compass module.
