Power Steering Fluid Leaks

1 Did you review the Power Steering System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step 2  Go to Symptoms - Power Steering System 
2 Verify that power steering fluid leaks are present.
Is the power steering system leaking?
Go to Step 3  System OK
3 Inspect the power steering system hose clamps and fittings.
Is the power steering system leaking at the hose clamps or the fittings?
Go to Step 8  Go to Step 4 
4 Inspect the power steering pipes and hoses.
Is the power steering system leaking from the pipes or the hoses?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 5 
5 Inspect the power steering fluid reservoir for leaks.
Is the reservoir leaking?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 6 
6 Inspect the power steering pump for leaks.
Is the power steering pump leaking?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 7 
7 Inspect the power steering gear for leaks.
Is the power steering gear leaking?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 8

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Replace the hose clamps, if necessary. Tighten the fittings. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
9 Replace the power steering hoses. Refer to the following procedures:

Go to Step 13  -
10 Replace the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
11 Overhaul or replace the power steering pump as necessary. Refer to the following procedures:
  1. Power Steering Pump Replacement 
  2. Power Steering Pump Disassemble 
  3. Power Steering Pump Assemble 

Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
12 Replace the power steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement (FWD)  or Power Steering Gear Replacement (AWD) .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
13 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
