Timing Chain Housing Installation

  1. Apply a continuous bead of GM P/N 12346240 (Canadian P/N 10953493) or an equivalent to the timing chain cover mating surface.
  2. Fig 2: Cylinder Block

  3. Apply GM P/N 12346240 (Canadian P/N 10953493) or an equivalent to the cylinder block (1).
  4. Fig 3: Timing Chain Cover Bolts

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the timing chain cover.

    Secure the cover using 19 bolts:

    • Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (1) to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).
    • Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (2) to 11 N.m (8 lb ft)
    • Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (3) to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
    • Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (4) to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
