Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the knob.
- Remove the center instrument trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Remove the instrument compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Remove the front floor console. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Remove the clip and washer, then disconnect the cable end from the shift lever assembly.
- Turn the cable lock, then disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever assembly.
- Remove the clip, then disconnect the cable end from the shift lever assembly.
- Turn the lock, then disconnect the select cable from the shift lever assembly.
- Remove the 4 nuts, then the shift lever assembly.
CAUTION:
Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
