Installation Procedure

NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the transaxle bracket and bolts on the transaxle.
Tighten: Tighten the transaxle bracket bolts to 52 N.m (38 lb ft).
Install the left transaxle mount and bolts to the body rail.
Tighten: Tighten the left transaxle mount bolts to 52 N.m (38 lb ft).
Install the transaxle mount through bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the transaxle mount through bolt to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).
Remove the engine support fixture from the engine.
Install the air cleaner box.
Install the air cleaner box bolts. Refer to Air Cleaner Element Replacement in Engine Controls - 1.8L.
Install the air filter.
Install the air cleaner hose and cap assembly.
Connect the MAF connector.
Connect the hoses to the air cleaner case assembly.
Install the battery tray and battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
Install the hold down bracket.
Install the hold down bracket bolt and nut.
Tighten: Tighten the hold down bracket bolt and nut to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
Connect the positive and negative battery cables.
