First Reverse Brake Removal

  1. Measure the 1st-reverse brake assembly clearance (1) using a feeler gage (2).
    • The 1st-reverse brake assembly clearance should fall within 1.060-2.380 mm (0.0417-0.0937 in).
    • If the 1st-reverse brake assembly clearance is below 1.060 mm (0.0417 in), inspect the 1st-reverse brake assembly components for excessive wear or damage.

  2. Remove the 1st-reverse brake snap ring (1) from the transaxle case.
  3. Remove the following components from the transaxle case:
    • 1st-reverse brake flange
    • Six plates
    • Six discs
