Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the manual transaxle from the vehicle. Refer to Transaxle Replacement in Manual Transmission -MK5 or Transaxle Replacement in Manual Transmission - MTN.
  2. Fig 1: Clutch Release Bearings And Release Fork

  3. Remove the clutch release bearing and the clutch release fork at the same time.
  4. Remove the clutch release bearing from the clutch release fork.
  5. Clean the clutch release bearing using a clean dry solvent free cloth.
  6. Inspect the clutch release bearing for external damage and smooth rotation. Replace the clutch release bearing for the following conditions:
    • External damage
    • The bearings do not operate smoothly.
