Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  1. Install or connect the fluid cooler inlet pipe, outlet pipe and bracket to the transaxle. Secure the pipe bracket to the transaxle with 1 bolt.

    Tighten: 

    • Tighten the transaxle inlet and outlet fluid cooler pipe flare nuts to 35 N.m (25 lb ft).
    • Tighten the fluid cooler pipe bracket bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  2. Install the following to the transaxle and fluid cooler:
    1. The fluid cooler inlet hose to the fluid cooler inlet pipe. Secure with the 1 clamp.
    2. The fluid cooler inlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with the 1 clamp.
    3. The fluid cooler outlet hose to the fluid cooler outlet pipe. Secure with the 1 clamp.
    4. The fluid cooler outlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with the 1 clamp.
  3. Remove the drain pan from under the transaxle fluid cooler.
  4. Refill the transaxle with AC Delco T-IV (GM Part No. 88900925), as necessary.
