Drum Brake Hardware Inspection

  1. Visually inspect the drum brake system hold-down springs (15,22) for the following:
    • Excessive corrosion
    • Damaged or bent locating pins
    • Broken spring coils
    • Damaged retaining cups
  2. Visually inspect the anchor spring (18) and the return springs (8,19) for the following:
    • Excessive corrosion
    • Excessive stretching
    • Broken hook ends
    • Twisting or binding
  3. Replace the drum brake system hardware if necessary. Refer to Drum Brake Hardware Replacement .
