Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  1. Install the I/P reinforcement (4) to the vehicle. Secure the reinforcement with the following fasteners:
    • The 7 bolts
    • The 1 nut

      Tighten:  Tighten the instrument panel reinforcement bolts and nuts to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

  2. Reroute harness through the I/P reinforcement.
  3. Install the windshield defroster nozzle duct to the heater case assembly.
  4. Install the I/P center support braces. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center Support .
  5. Install the ground cable.
  6. Install the instrument panel pad lower (11) to the carrier support (4) and secure the lower pad with the bolts (12).
  7. Connect the wire harness clamps.
  8. Install the lower I/P panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Lower .
  9. Install the upper I/P panel. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper .
