Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear

Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Refer to Brake Dust Caution Brake Dust Caution.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
Fastener Tightening Specifications:  Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
1 Bolt, Brake Caliper Guide Pin (Qty: 2)
Tip:  Only remove the lower brake caliper.

Tighten:  34 N.m (25 lb ft)

2 Caliper, Brake
Tip:  Rotate the brake caliper up and forward until it rest on the brake caliper mounting bracket. The brake hose does not have to be removed from the brake caliper.
3 Pad, Brake (Qty: 2)
Tip: 
  • Gradually apply pressure to the brake pedal until a firm pedal is felt.
  • If a firm pedal is not achieved, wait 15 seconds and repeat until a firm pedal is obtained.
  • Burnish the brake pads. Refer to Burnishing Pads and Rotors  Burnishing Pads and Rotors
4 Spring, Brake Pad.
Tip:  DO NOT reuse the old brake pad springs if replacing the brake pads, use new.
