Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DTC becomes history when the fault is no longer present.
A history DTC is cleared after 100 consecutive ignition cycles, if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
The BCM receives the clear code command from the scan tool.

1	Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?	Go to Step 2	Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
2	Install a scan tool. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter in the body control module (BCM) Power Mode data list. Does the Key In Ignition parameter display Yes?	Go to Step 3	Go to Step 4
3	Turn OFF the ignition. Remove the key. Disconnect the BCM connector C2. Connect a test lamp between the ignition 1 voltage circuit and a good ground. Does test lamp illuminate?	Go to Step 6	Go to Step 7
4	Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the BCM connector C2. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit of the ignition key alarm switch and good ground. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Does the test lamp illuminate?	Go to Step 7	Go to Step 5
5	Test the signal circuit of the ignition key alarm switch for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs . Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 11	Go to Step 8
6	Test the ignition 1 voltage circuit for a short to battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs . Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 11	Go to Step 10
7	Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs . Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 11	Go to Step 10
