Installation Procedure

  1. If necessary, perform the following steps:

  2. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.

  3. Carefully install the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Left .
    4. IMPORTANT: Do not remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
  4. Connect the exhaust crossover pipe to the left bank exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (RPOs L26/L32) or Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (RPO LY7) in Engine Exhaust.
  5. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower .

  6. Install the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector heat shield.
  7. Install the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  8. Install the left bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Left .
  9. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (L26) or Generator Replacement (LY7) in Engine Electrical.
  10. Install the assembled powertrain module to the vehicle. Refer to Engine Replacement .
