Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
  2. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  4. Remove the floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor .
  5. Remove the closeout insulator panels. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left  and to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right .
  6. Remove the instrument panel compartment door. Refer to Door Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment .
  7. Remove the instrument panel compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  8. Remove the instrument panel compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  9. Remove the instrument panel lower trim retainer panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Retainer Replacement .
  10. Remove the instrument panel center trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center .
  11. Remove the instrument panel lower extension. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Extension Replacement .
  12. Remove the HVAC manual controls. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC.
  13. Remove the radio housing bracket. Refer to Radio Housing Bracket Replacement (Upper) or Radio Housing Bracket Replacement (Lower) in Entertainment.
  14. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  15. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  16. Remove the driver information center switch. Refer to Driver Information Center Switch Replacement .
  17. Remove the instrument panel outer covers. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  18. Remove the windshield defroster grilles. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  19. Remove the daytime running lamp control module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  20. Remove the instrument panel speakers. Refer to Speaker Replacement - Front in Entertainment.
  21. Remove the cruise control switch. Refer to Cruise Control Switch Replacement in Cruise Control.
  22. Remove the wiper washer switch. Refer to Wipers/Washer Switch Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  23. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  25. Remove the 2 inner screws (1) attaching the instrument panel inflatable restraint (2) and instrument panel passenger's bracket and brace assembly (3) to the instrument panel inflatable restraint bracket.

  27. Remove the 12 lower screws from the instrument panel pad.
  28. Remove the 5 upper screws (1) from the instrument panel pad.
  29. Remove the instrument panel pad from the vehicle.

  31. From the rear side of the instrument panel pad, remove the 4 screws (3) attaching the instrument panel inflatable restraint opening trim cover (2) to the instrument panel inflatable restraint bracket (1).
  32. While pushing on the trim cover (2), detach the 4 tabs (4) and remove the trim cover (2).

  34. From the rear of the instrument pad, remove the 4 screws (2), attaching the instrument panel inflatable restraint bracket (3) to the pad assembly.
  35. Remove the 6 screws (1), and remove the bracket (3) from the pad assembly.
