Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
  2. With a flat-bladed tool, remove the defroster grille from the instrument panel (I/P) trim pad. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement (Chevrolet)  or Defroster Grille Replacement (Pontiac) .
  3. Remove the I/P upper trim panel (4) by lifting upward to release the retainers.

  4. Remove the screws from the I/P outer trim cover.
  5. Remove the I/P outer trim covers.
  6. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Pontiac)  or Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Chevrolet) .
  7. Remove the screws (1) from the right I/P trim panel.
  8. Remove the right I/P trim panel (3).
  9. Remove the screws (1) attaching the I/P trim pad (2).
  10. Remove the I/P trim pad (2) from the I/P carrier.
