Installation Procedure

  1. Install the I/P trim pad (2) to the I/P carrier.
    2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  2. Install the screws (1) attaching the I/P trim pad (2) to the I/P carrier.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).

  3. Install the right I/P trim panel (3).
  4. Install the screws to the right I/P trim panel (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).

  5. Install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Pontiac)  or Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Chevrolet) .
  6. Install the I/P outer trim covers.
  7. Install the screws to the I/P outer trim cover.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the I/P upper trim panel (4) by pushing downward until the retainers are fully seated.
  9. Install the defroster grille to the I/P carrier. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement (Chevrolet)  or Defroster Grille Replacement (Pontiac) .

    Press the defroster grille into the I/P carrier until the retaining tabs are secured.

  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
