Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 1:  This test confirms that the Powertrain OBD System Check has been performed.
  2. 2:  If DTCs U1000 or U1001 are set, these PIM DTCs should be diagnosed first.
  3. 3:  This DTC will be set if the PCM does not provide fuel level information. This would only occur if the PCM was programmed with an incorrect calibration.
  4. 4:  This test confirms if the DTC is current.
DTC B0576 - FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR RANGE/PERFORMANCE

Schematic Reference:  Instrument Cluster Schematics  
Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster 
Are powertrain interface module (PIM) DTCs U1000 or U1001 set? - Go to Diagnostic Starting Point - Data Link Communications in Data Link Communications Go to Step 3 
  1. Clear the PIM DTCs.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, then turn the engine OFF for at least 10 seconds.
Does Tech 2 indicate that this DTC reset?
- Go to Step 4  Go to Diagnostic Starting Point - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console 
  1. Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming.
  2. Using the Tech 2, clear the PIM DTCs.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, then turn the engine OFF for at least 10 seconds.
Does Tech 2 indicate that this DTC reset?
- Go to Step 5  Go to Step 6 
5 Replace the PIM. Refer to Powertrain Interface Module (PIM) Replacement in Body Control System.
Did you complete the replacement?
- Go to Step 6  -

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does the DTC reset?
- Go to Step 2  System OK
