Circuit Description

The air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) sends serial data along the serial data line via the body control module (BCM). This is read by the instrument cluster, which displays the status of the SDM on the multifunction display (MFD) and the air bag warning indicator.

DTC 19 - INCORRECT SDM DETECTED

1 Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. Select Diagnostics / Model Year / Vehicle Model / Body / Instrument / Diagnostic Trouble Codes / Read DTC Information.
Does the Tech 2 display DTC 12?		 - Go to DTC 12  Go to Step 3 
3 Replace the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Refer to Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Replacement in SIR.
Did you find and complete the repair?		 - Go to Step 4  -

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does the DTC reset?		 - Go to Step 2  System OK
