Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  2. Raise the hood.
  3. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to AIR INLET GRILLE PANEL REPLACEMENT in Body Front End.
    CAUTION: Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION .
  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  5. Install the thread support adaptors (J 28467-Vibe) onto the strut attaching studs.
  6. Install the strut tower support assemblies (J 28467-5A) over the thread support nuts (J 28467-33A).
  7. Install the T-bolts (J 28467-53) with 5/16 inch washers through the strut tower support assemblies (J 28467-5A) into the thread support nuts (J 28467-33A) and hand tighten.
  8. Install the two cross bracket assemblies (J 28467-1A) over the strut tower tube (J 28467-3).
  9. Install the strut tower tube (J 28467-3) into the strut tower support assemblies (J 28467-5A).
  10. Install the 1/2 inch x 2.5 inch quick release pin (J 28467-10) through the strut tower support assemblies (J 28467-5A) and the strut tower tube (J 28467-3) on one side only.
  11. Hand tighten the passenger side cross bracket assembly (J 28467-1A) wing nuts.
  12. Hand tighten the lift hook wing nut securely to remove all slack from the engine support fixture assembly.
